Camping at Falls Creek? Why not?!

There are many great walks, some of which are fantastic to camp at for a night or 2. Why not book USC and those that are keen to camp head out for a night or 2, those that are not so keen can enjoy all the comforts USC has to offer.

Having USC as a back up, also means should the weather turn, you have somewhere warm & dry to retreat too.

Some of the walks include:

Wallace’s Hut and back: about 1km. V easy. Can camp at Wallace’s Hut

Wallace’s Hut and Cope Hut, return by road or walking track (or organise a car shuffle for the younger members of a group) – 6-7km, easy, a lot is via the aquaduct, so flat, then ascend to Cope Hut. Good views of the valley, and looking for huts is a carrot for younger walkers. Good in bad weather – mostly sheltered

Watchbed Creek to Kelly’s +/-Fitzgerald’s Hut – up Watchbed Creek – bit of a rough 4WD track good for leaping from rock to rock, then a gentle descent to the hut/huts along the pole line, maybe 8km return. Beautiful with wildflowers

Watchbed Creek, Fitzgerald’s Hut, Langford Gap – start as for walk above, but descend further from Fitzgerald’s Hut until you reach the aquaduct, flat and simple when you reach the aquaduct, emerge at Langford’s Gap, walk back along the road to find the car. Maybe 10-12kmg (guess)

Watchbed Creek to Heathy Spur – beautiful on a clear day, cold on a windy one. Ideally do a car shuffle to be picked up at the end of Heathy Spur. Prob 6-7km. Can add in Kelly’s/Fitzgerald’s Huts if you feel so inclined

Mt Nelse – from Watchbed Creek to Mt Nelse, return via same path, more gentle but gradually up when the plain is reached. Prob 8km Would be great camping but not sure about water up there

Tawonga Huts – drive to Pretty Valley, walk about 10km return, Stunning views, great spot to camp, good water. Great choice for a first camp
